A little bit about us
The Boston Area Pharmaceutical Toxicology Group was initiated in 2004 by Carl Alden and other toxicologists at Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
Today, the group is made up of more than 250 individual members, joining from over 75 companies and institutions. Members gather twice a year for one-day meetings to discuss topical issues in drug development, and to share perspectives on opportunities and challenges in safety assessment. In 2015, the recurring biannual conferences were renamed the Dan Morton Meetings, in remembrance of Dr. Daniel Morton, a veterinary pathologist well-known for his expertise in toxicologic and comparative pathology and drug safety risk assessment, who contributed so much to this community.
The mission of BAPTG is:
To further the understanding of how pharmaceutical safety pharmacology, pathology, and toxicology contribute to the discovery and development of safe drugs and devices
To provide a platform for communication and open debate between local scientists involved in creating and applying pharmaceutical toxicology, pathology, and safety pharmacology data
To exchange ideas about innovative research and technologies applicable to pharmaceutical toxicology, pathology, and safety pharmacology
To support novel approaches to reduce, refine and replace animal use in research
We encourage all interested scientists, near and far, to participate. While we also welcome our colleagues in the contract research business to participate and collaborate in this forum, we discourage any unsolicited advertisement of any particular service.
